Picture

Not enough time to share more. This is one I caught one day while on my walk around town. Thought I'd share it with you.

Boo Boo

The day after I almost got hit by a car, I was riding the bus, probably going to the library. Anyway, I got on #36 and headed out. My original plan was to go all the way to the Alvarado Transit Center and get the 777 but changed my mind and got the 766 at Rio Grande and Central. It didn't matter which one I took as I would end up at the place I wanted to go. So I got on the 766 and figured I'd have less waiting time in between buses (transferring to another). Well, all was well until we pulled up to the Alvarado Transit Center. Just as 766 was pulling in front of 66 bus, that bus decided to pull out and they hit each other! I saw the mirror of the 66 bus smash into the 766. Just as people were getting onto the 766 something happened on Central and First Street, which was just in front of us. Someone said someone got hit by a car. When I looked out I saw that these two men were in the street wanting to fight each other. I could see people running from all directions over to where they were. After we were settled on the bus the bus driver said we had to get out since they had that accident. So all of us got off and had to find other ways to go where we wanted to. The same for the 66 bus. It was pretty chaotic. Now I had to figure out which bus to take to get me where I wanted as soon as possible. I saw that the 777 was my best bet. So I went back outside and the supervisor for the buses was out there checking out the buses and told the 766 driver that he can go and to try to get to Uptown Transit Center as soon as possible. Two guys got on and then I thought I better go and try to get my connection at the UTC. So after we got to UTC I took this picture of the scratch mark from the mirror of the 66 bus.
BTW, it was just 3 of us on the Rapid Ride till we got to the UNM stop. I hadn't seen the bus that empty! This was a huge bus!

Pretty Lucky

I am one lucky person. I was almost dead the other day or evening. I blame it all on the #8 bus because it was 8 minutes early and I missed it. Didn't even stop to wait a few minutes like they usually do when they are early. Had to be a man driving because the ladies are pretty good drivers and don't rush to their destinations. Anyway, had to wait for the next bus and that meant I had to cross the busy Louisiana Blvd right by the mall. Being that school was starting in a day or two, people were at the mall shopping. Anyway, this lady and I got off the bus and she was going to get the #157 like I was. We pushed the button to give us the green light to cross. You have to push the walk button or you won't have time to get across the street. I've seen people do that. Well, here we are walking across the street and I hear this car coming and it didn't seem like it was going to stop. So as I was looking up to see if we still had the green light, just like that, I saw this red thing to my right and then I heard someone scream out STOP! and I also heard tires screeching. I looked up and saw this lady driving a red Jeep and she had swerved and turned into the driveway but heading in the wrong direction. Good thing no one was exiting out. I just stopped and didn't move. This man got out of his car and yelled to see if we were all right. The lady with me was behind me and she asked if I was ok. I said Yes, just shaken up. The man said this other car went after the Jeep but that man came back and said he lost it. I told them a lady was driving the Jeep. We're all thinking she was talking on her phone, texting,and/or in trouble with the law. The one man said that she should have stopped to make sure we were ok. She did give us a big scare. You know how people say that their life flashes before them when something like this happens? Well, it didn't happen to me. So it's a sign that I wasn't ready to leave this earth. And then the next day the bus I was on hit another bus!! I was on the #766 (Rapid Ride) and we were coming into the Alvarado stop which they stop on First Street instead of inside the Alvarado Transit Center. And the #66 stops on First Street. The 66 bus was leaving and didn't see the 766 coming up along side of it and hit our bus or ours his the 66. Our bus driver pulled into his spot, people got off, and other people got on. Just at that time a man got hit by a car at the intersection of Central and First Street. But he wasn't hurt at all, so it was more of a car was turning and didn't stop for pedestrians. This guy that got hit went after the driver and they just about had it out on the street. People were running in all directions and stopped the fight. It was pretty funny now that I think about it. Grown men fighting, in the street! So now we had to get off the bus because of the accident. What a day.

Today is Sunday and it's the second day that we've encountered a cloudy day. The sun was trying really hard to break through the clouds, but the clouds were too strong. Not much rain today. Yesterday there were these huge black clouds coming in over the Sandias and I thought for sure that was going to be the one to flood the city. Well, not exactly flood where we have to swim around, just to cover the streets and make everyone do crazy things like drive into the parts that are covered with water and wonder what happened. That kind I thought was coming it but it didn't do much. Just dump rain east of Louisiana Blvd. The rest of the city got nothing, maybe a drop or two. Today it's been cloudy with the sun trying to peek through but no rain. Well, there was this little bit that I think fell at the airport. Other than that, nothing.
We've had bear problems too. They like coming into town. I know it's because they're interested in how their team is doing (the Chicago Cubs). That's all they're interested in. But they've been killed because they seem to want to attack people. I know they scared this one lady who lives alone up in the mountains. The sheriff had to shoot him because he tried to get into her trailer. I'd be scared and tell to hurry and shoot. I think they said 31 bears have been shot and killed so far this year which is the most ever in the state.

Rain

After 3 days of 100 and above temperatures we are finally getting some decent rain!! The rains did come the past few days as well but only lasted like 5 minutes. Just enough to wet the ground. Right now it's raining pretty hard. Not sure how long this is going to last. Who knows, only 10 minutes. We could really use a nice rainfall, though.
I hear how the weather is in other parts of the country so I won't complain too much about this hot weather. I know it's hard to deal with especially those with no air condtioning in their cars or even their homes. I know of some who don't have any. Then back on the reservation they don't have such things. So I have to be thankful for what I have. It could all go away just like that.
So I hear the thunder and see the lightning. I hope this lasts at least another 30 minutes. We'll see.

100 again!

Went out today and it was hot! I knew it was going to be in the high 90's but seeing the 101 at a couple of banks really makes it hot. But it's the dry hot and that's much better than humid hot. Lucky me I live in Albuquerque!!
So I went on the Rail Runner today for a ride out north. It wasn't any better there. Just as hot as here. So I came back home and walked about a quarter mile to the library and was very hot when I got into the building. Cooled down now. will stay here till it closes, in a couple of hours. Hopefully by then it'll be much cooler!! Who am I fooling? It'll probably be just as hot. Yesterday it was 96 degrees at 8 pm so I don't expect it to cool down much.
I think our dogs are now offically 'hot dogs.' Poor things. They spent the day outdoors. They have a tree to lie under and they usually dig a hole to keep cool. They don't like to stay indoors during the day as they will miss whatever goes on outside. In the early morning hours they know when the hot-air balloons are up around the house. they and the other neighbor dogs enjoy barking at them until they go down or fly out of sight. Every weekend this goes on. No time to sleep in on the weekends in our neighborhood!!!

Help Bob out, please!

One of my favorites!!

It's Still June, Guess What?

It's still June and I am actually putting something new on the blog. Nothing too exciting though. Just had to say something so that people know that I am still alive. Juella had trouble with her car. It was the brakes and I told her she needs to get them fixed before she doesn't have any. So her boyfriend fixed them yesterday. They were pretty bad but he got it done. Now she's glad she doesn't have to listen to all that noise it had been making the past few days. We even took a drive to the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Albuquerque. It was busy but not as much as I thought it would. It's different than the last time I was there. Back then it was the Isleta Casino. I thought they would keep some of the Isleta things in there but they took it all out. But the Pueblo will be making money off of Hard Rock with the deal they made with them. It's going to take some time to listen to that loud rock music. I don't have anything against rock music but it's how loud they think they have to play it.
Our 100 degrees is gone but it's still hot. But a good hot. No humidity. I am glad that we don't have too much humidity. Friends just returned from Nashville and they weren't happy with the humidity there. I am glad I stayed home!!

100

It's 100 degrees here in Albuquerque. Too hot to post any pictures!!! I was trying to stay out of the heat but my brother decided to injure is leg. Gotta go rescue him. I am not sure what he did. He either did it while riding his bike or it happened at the fairgrounds, at the race track. My nephew is going to pick up his bike. I have to go get my niece from work before going to get my brother. I am using my niece's car and it's got no air conditioning. But that's ok. We're Navajos and we grew up without such things. At least the windows can go down in the car, otherwise we'd be complaining.
I gotta get back to my radio trivia before hitting the road.

This is my niece and her friend. I think this was around the time of her birthday because she got a new game thing. Or maybe someone was just being nice and gave her one at another time.

And then there's one of the dog, Momo. Juella's dog.
And then there's one of the NM RailRunner that runs from Belen to Santa Fe. Been on it a couple of times. Mostly to Bernalillo. One day I'll make it all the way to Santa Fe. Fun.

It's Already June 3rd

It's been awhile since I've visited here. I read other blogs, though. I thought I would try harder to keep up with this and all that fun stuff. Let's see how I do!! It's just that I am pretty busy with other things. I don't know how people do it, those that seem to be loaded down with things in their life. How can one work 2 or 3 jobs, take care of the family, take time to read, watch TV and still have a couple of hours in the day for themselves??? I can't seem to do any of that in a day. Just one job will do if I have to do the other things. I am out doing fun things and will try to post some pictures of those fun things I do.
To start off, I wanted to see how this picture shows up (as I am writing I have no idea). It's the Sandia Mountains, not sure when I took it, but this is one of the fine days I had a chance to take a picture of it. I have tons of pictures of all kinds of things. Hope to share some, if I remember how to put them up. It takes time for my brains to get in gear. I can sit for hours at the computer and wonder what I am trying to do.

Winter

Well, it's winter and we don't have any snow. Just up in the mountains!! That's a good place for it to be, anyway. I hear that the east coast is buried in snow. I don't know if we could handle such snow. Well, a few years ago there was that big snowfall and we got through it. I don't know how people can do with lots of snow like that and it lasts for days. But if you live in such places, you just have to get use to it. I guess I would if that was the case for me.
Anyway, I know that the past weeks it has been more of winter than last year and a couple years before. But if you look at it, the results of what we got, mainly rain, but not much, and a snowflake here and there, well, the people living east of here got more than what we got. For some reason it seems that the storms that start on the west coast end up pretty heavy as it travels east. Then when the rains come, they seem to die out as they go further inland. Funny how that works.
I still think we'll get some snow here that'll last for a day or two. We need to have at least one big snow so we can make a snowman!!! And have a snowball fight!! The past two days it's been windy making the temperature about 15 degrees colder. Like the temperature yesterday said 53 degrees and with that wind it felt like it was in the 30's!!! There I am standing waiting for the bus to come and it was just cold. Today it's not that bad but it's still wind.
Next time I might include some pictures but we'll see what happens with that.
And maybe I'll write more in the next day or two, then again it might be weeks or months before coming back here. Too much going on and not enough hours in the day!

February 12th

Well, Juella was pretty excited about getting her license and her car. And after a day of driving, after getting it running, registered and insured, she has no car. Something about the brakes and the master cylinder. Her boyfriend said it's not worth fixing. The guy that sold her the car wanted to buy the car back even though it's not working. He was willing to pay double of what they paid for it. But for now it's sitting in the yard until she can get the title turned over to him. She doesn't want him driving it when it's not workable, the brakes, that is and then get hurt from that. She knows she'll be responsible for that since it's still in her name. For now they're trying figure what to do with it. She's looking for another car. Her boyfriend is pretty good at finding cars so I don't expect her to be without one for long.
Her dog Momo is now living with my parents!! Her guinea pigs are with her mom!! She said it'll be for a short time. I don't know why they aren't with her. Something happened that she doesn't want to talk about. Either that or she's living with Corey. She can do whatever she wants. I'll find out. I know how to get it out of her!! Ha!
