A new driver

JUELLA BECAME AN OFFICIAL NM DRIVER TODAY!!! She finally got her driver's license. She had been trying to get it since September. She got herself a car and it has been sitting in the driveway for months. Now she gets to get it registered, insured, and all that fun stuff!!! I am happy for her. But sad in a way, because I won't see much of her anymore!!! She doesn't need her old auntie any more!!!! boo-hoo. Oh well, I just have to call her every now and then, and go visit her at the mall!!! She thought she was rid of me!!! Ha ha, she didn't think it all out!

Random things

Lots of things on my mind these days. It's almost the end of 2009 and it seems like I've accomplished nothing. It just seems that way when you look at the whole big picture. Other thing on my mind is the many people that have come into my life. If I had my car, then I wouldn't have met so many people. There are like a million people here (not really that much, but it seems to be). Each of these people that I met have had their ups and downs in life. Some are going thru some really hard times now. One lady was happy that I befriended her about 6 months ago. We see each other every now and then. The other day she was telling me what was going on with her. After talking with her she told me that she was glad we ran into each other. She had to hear someone else tell her that all will be ok. I have to hear things like that myself. Sometimes I think all is going wrong till I talk to someone who had no idea what I am going through and then they tell me I am in my right mind, sane, etc. This one man was so excited about going back to school! He's in his 40's, had such a bad time the past few years. He said that he's not going to let the negative things get the best of him any more. He said that he's not going to feel sorry for himself for letting things get the way they are now. He wants to learn something and get a better job despite what people tell him, that he's too old to do that. I told him it's never too late to do anything. He said he's going to take my idea of making negative things that come to him into positive things. I do that often. I am not going to let the negative things keep me down. There's always that positive side, at least that what I believe.

Wonder Woman

Okay, I was thinking of something to write. So here goes............
A while back I thought I was Wonder Woman, or Super Woman, whatever. I went to Sandia Casino to meet a friend or my family. It was for lunch. I go there often with my family. Anyway, I was there to eat with someone. I pulled into this parking space on the west lot, got out of my car and was ready to head for the stairs. All of a sudden the truck next to me started rolling out of it's spot!!!! (there was no one in the truck!!) What to do??? I just screamed out, "someone help me!!" NO ONE HEARD ME!!!!! All I knew was that poor car behind it was going to get smashed!! So what do I do??? I ran over to the truck and tried to open the door and it was locked! So I just pulled on the door handle hoping that my super strength would stop it from rolling into that car! Boy was I wrong. It kept going!!!! OMG!!! What are those people going to think when they come out of the casino (hopefully they won enough money to not worry too much!!!) Ha! Anyway, I was able to stop it from rolling too hard into the car. (After all, I do have some sort of super strength!!) I just let it roll till it barely bumped it and left it like that. Nothing else I could do. I got the license plate of the car and went inside and told security what had happened. Pretty soon you could hear the announcement, "Will the owner of such and such a car, NM license #, please report to the Player's Club. And will the owner of such and such vehicle, license # please report to the Player's Club." I don't know what happened with that as I was already in line to eat and really didn't worry much about it.

Driving in Bernalillo

One evening I was driving back home from Bernalillo, NM. I was heading east on that highway that comes in from Cuba (can't think of the name of it or number!!) Anyway, I was coming up to the intersection by the Giant gas station when I noticed this car with it's turn signal on. For some reason I knew it wasn't going to be turning. There was a pick-up right next to it. Then the light turned green and both vehicles took off but that car was going to hit the pick-up, which I don't think the driver knew it. But somehow the driver in the car swerved back into his lane and went too far to the right. First thing I thought was 'a drunk driver.' I couldn't think of the number you call to report drunk drivers. I just dialed some number and the phone kept ringing so I thought it was the wrong one. Then I was wondering if it was ok to use the cell phone while driving in Bernalillo. So I kept my eye on that car and wasn't about to pass it. The driver kept swerving back and forth, into the other lane and then back to his. We were coming up to the next traffic light and there were cars waiting for the red light but this guy kept going and I don't know how he missed all those parked cars, but he did. He went into the intersection and mussed those cars that were there. He lucked out and was now in the opposite direction. I don't know if anyone else tried to call the DWI line but I had to wait at the light and lost track of that car as it headed east. I don't know where he ended up as I didn't see anything on the way up to I-25. Didn't see any car on the interstate heading back into Albuquerque that seemed to be swerving. I don't know what happened to that person. I don't even know who was driving or what kind of car it was. That was pretty scary, especially in that intersection. I was sure there was going to be a big crash. Luckily no one was hurt.

October 2009

This is the year that Juella turns 21. Well, she did turn 21 one week ago. Anyway, she moved out of her mom's apartment and lives with 2 of her best friends. So far they are getting along quite well. Juella took along her pets to live with. So far she has Jimmy, Brownie, Chocolate (my name for her cuz I don't remember her name!), and her newest pet, Mo Mo. Jimmy is the cat, Brownie and Chocolate are guinea pigs and Mo Mo is her dog. They all get along together. Will have to get pics of these guys to share. These guys live with other pets at that household and they all seem to get along. I think they added two more cats to their growing animal kingdom!
The Balloon Fiesta has come and gone! Some days were good, most seemed to be bad with the winds. I did go see the Glowdeo. Didn't really get to see the balloons up in the air much. Well, they seemed to have flown in the other direction from where I was. I was not ready to go to the other side to watch them! So I just watched them go away!! There were several accidents but none were fatal. I think that was on everyone's minds because whenever there was mention of an accident, first question was 'did anyone die?' One morning the pilots were told they can fly at their own risk as they cancelled all ballooning events due to the winds. That was the day several balloons were blown into the power lines and one landed at the airport on one of the runways. I think they got in trouble for doing that. But what else could they do? It's not like it's done all the time. Then there's Sandia Pueblo that said the balloonists could not take off on their land but they could land there. Hmmm. sometimes I wonder about these Pueblos.
The State Fair was in September. It was pretty much ok. For me now, it was, you've been to the fair once, you've seen it all. It really wasn't that interesting to me. It's always the same thing each year. Why go each year and spend more money that you could use in a more sensible place. The one thing that people do look forward to is the Navajo or Indian Taco (depends on who makes it!!) That, you don't find anywhere, but the fair. You can get your turkey legs, cotton candy and whatever else people go for any where else. The Indian Village is one of the more popular places because you can't get that kind of food or entertainment any where else but there. Now if you have friends that are Native Americans and can make such food, they you are in luck!!

It's About Time

Yeah, I've been lazy about updating my blog. Not much to say, I guess. When you lead a boring life, then there's nothing to say!!! Ohhhhhh, wait a minute! I don't have a boring life. You see, the reason I haven't updated my blog is because my life has been nothing close to boring. Not enough time to sit down and write something down. There aren't enough hours in a day for me!!! If you have any spare time to lend me, I could get much more done!!
Well, it's the middle of October and there's been lots of things going on. Maybe I will get some time to do some updating but can't make any promises. I will do the best that I can. So hopefully all will work out for me to get this thing going.
I've been enjoying reading other people's blogs. Some hadn't been writing either. So now that those people are updating theirs, then I better get to it too!!!

Basketball

Today was an exciting day in the world of college basketball. We are in the Mountain West Conference: BYU, Utah, New Mexico, TCU, CSU, Wyoming, Air Force, San Diego State, and UNLV. I am a BYU fan so you know I was cheering for the Cougars today. They beat Utah. YAY! Those following New Mexico were hoping for BYU to win because if Utah loses it's last two games there could possibly be a three way finish for 1st place. Tonight UNM played at Colorado State and played pretty good. They struggled to the end. 13 seconds left, the Lobos were down by 5 points. They came through with a 3-pointer and the last second shot by the Lobos made it go into OT. The Lobo sports announcer (radio) couldn't believe that. That OT ended in a tie, so there was another OT. Both teams fought until the end. The Lobos eventually came up winning. I don't remember the score. So Tuesday night is the big game here in town. I am sure it's a sellout at the infamous Pit. Utah is coming to town. In this case, I am hoping that Utah comes up winning but then again, I heard that if UNM wins, BYU will take the top spot because of how the previous games went?? I didn't follow that. So if that's the case, then we want the Lobos to be victorious! UNLV was supposedly to win the conference title but they have struggled a bit. What's really interesting is the interest in the MWC by the sports people across the country. That's cool because they seem to forget us in the Mountain states.
I did watch other games today and most of them were pretty close in the end. Too bad they all couldn't be winners. It was looking like all the home teams were winning so I thought that was a plus for BYU as they played in Provo. I am looking forward to March Madness. I enjoy watching those games even if my teams aren't in it. I also enjoy high school basketball. This year Valley and Del Norte have done pretty good. Both the boys and girls teams. Del Norte girls are on top of their league for the first time since 1976!! Valley is my alma mater and my niece went to Del Norte.

Jimmy, a year later

These are pictures of Jimmy. He's grown quite a bit. Still a biter! But that's Jimmy. He's a funny cat as well. He's got new friends, Brownie and her buddy. Can't think of her name. They are guinea pigs that Juella got a few weeks ago. Will have to try to get some pics of them.

This one's for Tori

Just messing around on the computer tonight. I did one of these for my friend Lena a few days ago. I thought I'd put one together for Tori. They are one of the few KU fans around. Of course I am KU's #1 fan!

Firemen!

Ok, one day while I was driving (I had just left from my parents house) I had turned east onto Griegos Rd. There wasn't any traffic and then all of a sudden there's this fire truck right behind me. This was just before getting to 12th Street. There's not much space between Grande Dr. and 12th Street, so how they got right behind me that fast, I won't ever figure that out. Anyway, I'm driving the speed limit (30 mph) and they're on my bumper. I thought that they won't be there for long as the fire station was just up the road (right before you get to 4th Street). As I kept looking back at the truck it said Engine 1. Well, the fire station coming up is #6. Oh no, these guys aren't going to turn there. I was right. They stayed on me and were turning north onto 4th St. as I was! So I thought as soon as I turn I will lose them as their truck will probably go slow at first. WRONG! They stayed on the inside lane for awhile but got right behind me as we approached Montano. I was heading East on Montano and they were too!! My destination was the Shell station up on Montano just before getting to I-25. That was the lowest price for gasoline. And I'm already driving on fumes. Yeah, I usually do that. Wait till the tank is empty before realizing I need to get gas in the car. Anyway, I'm driving up Montano and decide to stay in the far right lane and they did the same thing! Then I got to thinking that they're following me to make sure I make it to the Shell station! Then I thought about a friend who was crazy about firemen. She just drools over them. I had taken this picture of these firemen in Springfield, MO on one of my trips to Nashville. I thought about taking a picture of these guys and show it to her. I take my camera every where I go. Then I realized I had no way to take a picture of them if they're right there on my bumper. Anyway, we got up to Renaissance St., had to wait for the light. I got in the turning lane for a right turn. They were still in the other lane as they couldn't get in the turning lane. I thought they'd go on, like onto the freeway. But no! They followed me into the parking lot. There's the Shell station on the right side of Renaissance and a McDonald's on the left side. That's the end of the road. I guess they didn't know where they were going. Maybe I confused them and they thought we were getting on the freeway!! I don't know. Then I thought they were going to eat lunch at McDonalds but instead they turned the truck around, had quite a time in doing that. I was at the first pump there and watching them. As they got going I waved at them. They just looked at me. Probably wondering who I was and why I waved. Maybe they thought I was someone they knew. You know there are lots of blue cars around and they thought I was someone they knew. I thought they were my knights-in-shining-aromur. And they just turned around and headed back west on Montano!
Men!

Happy New Year

Yes I know, it's a new year. Sorry I don't really put any thing up. Can I say that I am busy as a bee? No? You don't buy it? Well, can I say that I am just plain lazy? No? I'm not lazy? Good, I thought I was. Whew! I have been keeping busy with life. Enjoying every minute. I've got my ups an downs.
So I am going to add something here and hope it works. Maybe next time I will tell you a few more things that are pretty interesting, funny or however you see it.
I will try to put more things up starting today. OK? (I might need a little reminder that I said that!!!)
Have a great day!
