Softball

I was watching BYU softball games over the weekend. Some of the things that happened was on Friday evening, they delayed the game for a few minutes because the sun was at the point that it was blinding the batter, catcher and umpire. The ump said that they would wait til the sun goes down and they would start again. BYU ended up winning that game. They were in the very last inning when this happened. The Cougars scored in the bottom of the inning to win.
Saturday was a double-header. Of course the Cougars won both. They had played San Jose State. Anyway, one of the plays, a BYU player had gone to 2nd base and the umpire called her out but then overturned the call. I don't remember if it was that ump that overturned the call or a different ump. Anyway, BYU coach went out and said that she was safe because she beat the tag out. Of course the TV played that over and over and it was really a close call. And then when the out was overturned the SJS coach came out and argued that but he lost. Very interesting games and I totally enjoyed it.
I also watched the Men's Volleyball team play Stanford. If they Cougars had won they would have played in the Championship game on Saturday. They played hard but Stanford seemed to have played harder. It was sad to see the team lose but you can't win them all. But they should have won!! I enjoyed watching the volleyball games on TV (the BYU channel).

Good Day

April 21, 2012 was a great day!!  Keith Urban became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!! I thought this day would never come. I wished that Steve Wariner would have had the honors of inducting him into the Opry. Oh well, can't have everything. Anyway, it was great to see him become a member and so very glad that GAC broadcast the show on their station. I thought it was going to be one of those "you had to be there."
Then there was a great volleyball game on another channel. I was switching back and forth and glad that the Opry was only an hour long!! BYU played against Long Beach State. LBS was ranked (maybe still is) #6 and BYU ranked #3. BYU won the first 2 games and the next two went to LBS. So there was that 5th game that would decide the winner. And this one went to the team that got 15 points first. So, so glad that BYU kept the momentum going as they got ahead 8-1 and went on to defeat LBS 15-7. The Cougs move onto the semi-finals!!!  Most likely going to play Stanford unless for some unknown reason Pepperdine comes back and wins!!

I Hate Changes!!

Yeah, so this blog thingy page really stinks. I don't like changes and it takes me days to figure out what I am doing.
Anyway, wanted to say that Friday the 13th was lucky for me. I went to get those scratchers the radio stations were giving out. I managed to get to 4 remotes and got 4 scratchers. And if I bought $7 or $10 of lottery tickets (including scratchers) I could spin the wheel for prizes!! So I had money in my pocket and bought some tickets. I got me a lunch bag, a duffle bag and those thingys you put in your car windshield to keep the heat out of the car (sorry can't think of the name of it at the moment!) Anyway, those free scratchers won me $7 and I won $1 on two Roadrunner Cash tickets. Not bad for an unlucky day!!

Friday the 13th

Can not believe that April is halfway over (almost). Seems that I am not caught up to date. My days are just confusing at times. I forget what day it is. For some reason I kept thinking today (Thursday) was Friday. (I am still up from Thursday). Anyway, I finally got the days back in order. I just hope I don't think we're on Saturday. Very confusing.
I've been back at sewing. I made a little outfit for my great niece. She fits into 18-month old clothes bought at the store. She doesn't fit in 18-month old clothes made at home!! These patterns they put out for that size is way too big. There was a guide to cut the elastic and I thought "this is too big for her." I cut it out and when I finished the garment and tried it on her, it was like 2-3 times bigger than her. So I had to fix it to fit her. I made a couple more outfits for her but this time made sure it was cut to fit her. Her parents are happy with the new clothes. Seems that they've been holding on to the newborn sizes and trying to make her wear them. And then they squeezed her big feet into these tiny shoes!! What were they thinking!! Poor thing. I took the shoes off her and she was ready to go run around the house. But wait! She realized that she wasn't ready to run on her own. She's trying to, though. Each time she fell on her butt and was about to cry but realized that it wasn't going to get her anywhere. She got up and tried again to walk on her own. She doesn't try to grab hold of the furniture or wall to help her, she wants to go on her own. Such as funny kid. Then she discovered the dogs outside. She wanted to go out there and watch them. I had her touch one of them with her foot and she screamed out in laughter. She thought that was so funny. She wanted to do it again but the dog wanted nothing to do with her. I guess the dog is just a scaredy-dog.
I had to go pick up my niece at work today. She wanted to go to the bank or the ATM to get some money to pay for the phone. Then I told her I was getting hungry as I hadn't eaten since early morning. She said I can go ahead and eat as she had a lunch date with her friend. So I just stopped at McDonald's for a quick bite of a hamburger. At least get something so I don't pass out while driving. She was telling me about her friend and how he was afraid to tell his family that he quit his job. I guess they got angry at his cousins for quitting their jobs/education. One wanted to go to culinary school but they told him that was not a good idea. He was studying some other major and decided that wasn't for him. He had started working fast food and really enjoyed it. So he thought cooking was his thing to do. The family quit helping him out. That's sad as they don't see that what he was interested in wasn't what they thought he should do. I guess his sister got a degree in education and decided she wasn't all that thrilled in teaching afterall. She wants to do something else and they shot her down. She's not doing much these days. Then I told my niece of what I thought they should do. When we got to her house she told me "Auntie, you always know the right things to say. Thank you."
Wish me luck today (Friday the 13th). The radio stations (3) are out today giving away a Red, White & Blue lottery scratcher ticket to the first 50 people who visit wherever they are. I hope to be lucky and get a ticket, a winning ticket!! People say I am so lucky when I win things. Those things I win are 'small' things. I mean, like the last 6 Roadrunner Cash tickets I bought turned out to be $1 winnings. Yep, $6 is what I've won so far. It's not much of a jackpot, not like the millions these other ones give away. I like buying a ticket here and there for the Roadrunner Cash. Someone had just won about $225,000 and it's back down to $27,000 today. I think the most it went up to was around $600,000. I don't know if they ever announced who won that one or if it was several people who won.

Changes and Other Things

So now it's April. I have to get use to that and before you know it, it's going to be June or July!!! I am getting old.
Well, when I signed on here today, there are changes and I don't like it. I wasn't even use to the other one. So I sort of got lost when trying to post something. I have no idea what's going on. One day I will understand these changes that happens to every thing. Just when I get use to it...........
I have Facebook and don't post anything there either. I don't have the time to do that. Maybe, once in a while I will post something but I just read whatever is up at the moment.
There is something I look forward to doing in a few weeks. The ABQ Ride (transit) is having a contest called the Great Bus Race. (something like that)  Named after the CBS show The Amazing Race. Last year they held the event for the first time and it was a hit. My friend found the website and told me about it but it was too late to sign up. We said that we're going to try this year, if they have the event again. They did say they were going to do it and I made sure I signed up for it. And we got a spot in the contest. We will race with 29 other teams, riding the bus around the city finding clues and then get to the finish line. We have to have a Smartphone to read those QR codes and then when we're done and return to the finish line, the first team to get across with the most points will win the grand prize. I think it's an iPad. They're also giving away iPods to other winning teams. The teams consist of 2 people. It will be exciting to do this. I ride the bus a lot so I hope that will be a plus for us. I usually do good with clues, too.
Yeah, so I ramble on and on. I don't really make sense because my fingers type at the speed that my mind isn't at. Well, my mind runs faster than I type (same thing, huh?)
Oh yes, my great niece turns 1 year old this month!! It's also her mom's birthday month, too. Cool.
